The weighting system for Direct Entry to degree programmes applies to all Public Universities. The National Council for Higher Education Entry Requirements are used for the Diploma and Certificate Applicants. Study them carefully before you fill the form.
1. Direct Entry weighting criteria
The minimum entry requirement into a Diploma programme is at least one Principal Pass and two subsidiaries or its equivalent. Again all subjects taken at the advanced level are grouped into three:
- Essential
- Relevant
- Desirable
- Others
The Essential subjects must be passed at least with a Principal Pass.
- Certificate (Direct) Entry
The minimum entry requirement into a Certificate Programme is at least three credits; at least a pass in Mathematics and English Language and a pass in one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Foods and Nutrition, Agriculture, Geography.
2. The Credit Transfer Scheme (Multiple Entry, Multiple Exit)
- Diploma Credit Transfer Scheme
Candidates with a COVAB AFRISA Ordinary Certificate applying to join the Diploma programme must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.90 at Certificate Level. They must also pass the relevant bridging courses offered at COVAB AFRISA to cover their A level gap.
- Special Entry Scheme (Artisan Certificates)
The Artisan Entry Scheme is for all school leavers with a good grade and is considered at the discretion of the AFRISA secretariat. |
